Common Secret Formulas for Bronchial Asthma
Disease Description
Bronchial asthma, commonly known as “wheezing disease,” is referred to in traditional Chinese medicine as “Xiao Zheng.” It primarily results from spasm of smooth muscles in medium and small bronchi, mucosal congestion and edema, increased thick secretions in the airway, narrowing of the lumen, and impaired airflow, causing paroxysmal breathing difficulty with wheezing. This condition commonly occurs in winter and autumn, often recurs, and many patients suffer from it since childhood, persisting for years without cure. Current understanding attributes asthma attacks to hypersensitivity reactions in the body to certain animals, dust, food, plants, or drugs—corresponding in traditional Chinese medicine to underlying lung and kidney yin deficiency.
