Garlic Paste
[Ingredients] Fresh garlic 3 cloves.
[Preparation] Crush fresh garlic into paste, spread on cloth about the size of a coin, apply to Yongquan acupoint on the sole of the foot, secure with bandage. Apply to left foot for left nosebleed, right foot for right nosebleed, both feet for bilateral nosebleeds, leave until the sole feels painful or blistering begins.
[Function] Garlic is pungent and warm, detoxifying. Applying garlic paste to the soles directs liver fire downward—this is the principle of "treating upper disease by treating lower points"—effective for epistaxis and hematemesis.
[Comment] Experiments show garlic has significant anti-inflammatory effects; its lipid-soluble volatile oils enhance macrophage activity, thereby strengthening immune function and achieving anti-inflammatory and hemostatic effects. However, caution is advised—do not leave paste on too long; remove immediately if feeling feverish. Prolonged application may cause redness and swelling on soles, affecting walking.
