Skillful Consumption of Hawthorn for Fat Reduction and Blood Pressure Control
Most people know hawthorn helps reduce lipids and lower blood pressure. Yet, seeing fresh hawthorns, many don’t know how to eat them properly. Below are several methods you might try.
Steamed Hawthorn: 500 grams fresh hawthorns, washed, added with a little water, steamed or boiled until soft. Eat 2–5 pieces with each meal.
Hawthorn Jam: 1 kg hawthorns, washed, peeled, pits removed, boiled with a little water until soft, then transferred to a wok, mashed with a spatula while constantly stirring until moisture evaporates and mixture thickens. Can be used as a spread on bread or buns, or as filling for buns, flatbreads, or tangyuan.
Tea: Wash, dry, slice hawthorns, sun-dry or oven-dry. Daily use: 25 grams mixed with 15 grams cassia seed and 10 grams chrysanthemum, steeped in boiling water as tea.
