Rheumatism Patients Should Limit Pork, Beef, and Mutton
German experts recently advised that rheumatism patients, while undergoing medication, must not overlook "dietary therapy," especially reducing intake of animal fats.
According to experts, eggs and organ meats should be strictly avoided by rheumatism patients, while red meats such as pork, beef, and mutton—and sausages—should be consumed no more than once or twice weekly. Animal fats contain substances that easily trigger joint inflammation; excessive intake of fatty animal products worsens symptoms. Low-fat milk, dairy products, and fish are ideal choices for rheumatism patients. Fish, in particular, can alleviate pain caused by joint swelling.
