Comment: Both Gardenia and Artemisia have heat-clearing and gallbladder-promoting effects; Artemisia is especially crucial for reducing jaundice. "Compendium of Materia Medica" also records using four stems of Artemisia, seven Gardenias, one large field snail (with shell), crushed together, mixed with boiling hot flower tea and one large cup of white wine, drunk to treat male alcohol-induced jaundice. When applying such formulas, prolonged decoction is particularly important. This method fully utilizes active components in herbs while allowing most ethanol to evaporate, ensuring safe consumption. Further research is needed to improve efficacy.
