Comment: The formula of Tiger Descending Wine is derived from the famous prescription "Tiger Descending Pill" created by the Yuan Dynasty physician Zhu Zhenheng for treating paralysis, with modifications. However, it differs in application from the original pill. The Tiger Descending Pill contains phellodendron and anemarrhena to clear heat and nourish yin, suitable for cases of liver-kidney deficiency with yin deficiency and internal fire leading to lower limb atrophy. In contrast, Tiger Descending Wine removes anemarrhena and phellodendron but adds herbs that expel wind-dampness and tonify liver-kidney, making it suitable for long-standing rheumatic arthralgia with tendon-bone weakness.
