Tuina Therapy for Sub-health State
Social development and technological advancement have led to increased mental labor over physical labor, coupled with rising social and psychological stress, causing the body to remain in a state of tension, competition, and fatigue. This leads to functional disorders or decline in brain and internal organs, or accelerated aging of tissue structures. This condition—characterized by no illness yet subjective discomfort—is known as sub-health.
Sub-health is a relatively new concept introduced by domestic and international medical communities, also called the "third state" or "gray state." Currently, there is no clear definition. It generally refers to a state between health and illness, primarily marked by various subjective discomforts such as insomnia, fatigue, decreased physical strength, emotional instability (including low mood, anxiety, irritability), with no positive findings in clinical examinations. Experts estimate that about 60% of people live in varying degrees of sub-health, making its treatment a pressing new challenge.
Treating sub-health is one of the key preventive measures against disease onset, aligning with the TCM principle of "treating disease before it occurs." Timely adjustment of yin-yang imbalance ensures the body remains in a healthy state of "harmonious yin and yang, spiritual tranquility."
Using tuina on the back to treat sub-health works through the following mechanisms:
1. Correcting anatomical misalignments, thereby treating related diseases. Tuina manipulations realign bones, restore tendons to their proper positions, restore muscle elasticity, and ensure unobstructed blood vessels.
2. The back has complex connections with internal organs. Maintaining dynamic balance between spine and muscles directly affects the relationship between the back and surrounding organs. Tuina therapy restores this balance, re-establishing disrupted connections, thus achieving treatment of sub-health.
3. Each organ possesses specific biological information (unique frequency, heat, bioelectricity). When spinal pathology occurs, this biological information changes. Stimulating spinal nerves via tuina clears pathological information caused by anatomical misalignment, corrects disordered information pathways, and resolves symptoms.
Tuina therapy highlights the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine: simplicity, effectiveness, and broad acceptance. The process brings a sense of bodily lightness and emotional relief, greatly aiding sub-health treatment. Effective management of sub-health significantly reduces disease incidence, providing an effective health-preserving method to protect human health and enhance quality of life.
