Acupuncture Therapy for Asthma
One, Syndrome Differentiation
1. Wind-Cold Type
Main Manifestations: Cough with thin phlegm, rapid breathing, wheezing, accompanied by fever, chills, headache, early stage without sweating, no thirst, white coating, floating tight pulse.
2. Phlegm-Heat Type
Main Manifestations: Rapid, short breathing, loud coarse voice, yellow sticky cough, chest tightness, fever, restlessness, dry mouth, yellow greasy coating, slippery rapid pulse.
3. Lung Deficiency
Main Manifestations: Rapid breathing, weak voice, weak cough, spontaneous sweating, pale tongue, weak pulse.
4. Kidney Deficiency
Main Manifestations: Long-standing shortness of breath, exacerbated by activity, wheezing in throat, open mouth and raised shoulders, shortness of breath, fatigue, sweating, cold limbs, pale tongue, deep fine pulse.
Two, Treatment
1. Wind-Cold Type
Prescription: Feishu (BL13), Fengmen (BL12), Dazhui (GV14), Lieque (LU7), Hegu (LI4).
Use dispersion method with moxibustion to expel wind-cold and relieve asthma.
2. Phlegm-Heat Type
Prescription: Feishu (BL13), Dingchuan (EX-B2), TiandTu (CV22), Chize (LU5), Fenglong (ST40).
Use dispersion method to clear heat, resolve phlegm, and relieve asthma.
3. Lung Deficiency
Prescription: Feishu (BL13), Taiyuan (LU9), Zusanli (ST36), Taibai (SP3).
Use tonification method or combine with moxibustion to tonify lung qi.
4. Kidney Deficiency
Prescription: Taixi (KI3), Shenshu (BL23), Feishu (BL13), Zhongfu (CV17), Qihai (CV6).
Apply tonification method or combine with moxibustion to tonify kidney and anchor qi. Add Shenzhu (GV12), Gaochangshu (BL43) for persistent asthma; add Zhongwan (CV12), Pishu (BL20) for spleen deficiency.
This condition includes bronchial asthma, asthmatic bronchitis, obstructive pulmonary emphysema, and other diseases presenting with rapid breathing.
